This Absolution Remix Kit practical info:

Tempo:

- 90 bpm

The Files:

- Are 44.1 Khz, 24-bit AIF files. We chose AIF because it is a format both Mac and PC will read. You should be able to import these files into your audio sequencer (and most hardware samplers) such as Cubase, Nuendo, Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live, Garageband, Fruity Loops, Sony Acid, Digital Performer, Reason, etc.
- Are created from the nearest bar or beat, so all the loops will be "in time", but obviously its still up to you to place them and use them in a musically logical manner - or not.

The Sounds:

- are divided into 4 category folders: Vocals, Guitars, Bass & Synths/Samples. There are no drums included - make your own :)
- Weve selected a bunch of loops, that we think roughly outlines the original song. Including all the sounds in their full versions would mean several Gigabytes per song, which naturally wasnt really possible.
- There may be the occasional sound (esp Guitars) included in these kits that werent actually used on the final album mix, but we decided to throw them in anyway since its kinda cool to see if anyone else might find a use for them :)

Effects:

- Except for some minor Eq (removal only) and Compression (such as on vocals) we have not treated these sounds at all (beyond the initial processing that actually created the sounds)

Tips:

- Be experimental. Mess around with the sounds, use your effects. Dont be afraid to fail and remember, being different makes you way cooler than the trend following drone.
- If you layer a lot of sounds at the same time (esp Guitars), you may end up with some dissonance, and may have to track down certain sounds that may need some minor tuning (yes, we stay up late and work our asses off, and then we discover wed recorded some pretty dissonant sounding stuff).
- Unless you plan on totally mutilating the song and creating something different from it, its probably wise to listen to the original several times to get a feel of it, but of course this is totally individual and may not make sense or matter to everyone.

Pops & Clicks:

-Yes, there are occasional pops and clicks in some of the sounds. Hey, we paid for this record ourselves, so some of the eqipment used was slightly "off". Weve managed to get away with it and so should you. If its useful to you, the main antagonists involved were: old tubes, a moody channel strip, a moody old vintage console, and some latency issues with a cheap sound card and a pair of shitty, leaking headphones early on in the process . Shit happens.
If Loops click/pop: Zoom in on the audio part/clip, and create a super short fade in/out, make sure its really short, so zoom in a lot.

MIDI:

- Weve not included any MIDI files. The reason is simply because they wouldnt line up against the audio loops, plus even if they did, in many cases it still wouldnt make much sense (we screw around with the audio files too, slicing and dicing and messing around).
